So you’re traveling to Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia? Perhaps it’s your first time traveling to Al Khobar or even Saudi Arabia in general? Not to worry! It’s not that bad. Luckily, Al Khobar is located in the Eastern Province/State of Saudi Arabia. It’s a bit more liberal than other areas of Saudi. Often in other areas of Saudi, women are asked to cover their heads/hair with a hijab. But, in Khobar, you’re no longer required. YAY! Women can not drive, while men can. So for us women, we just call a driver. Use a drive that has been recommended to you by your hotel or your office or someone who you trust in the region. There are plenty of Taxis to take, but I would recommend using someone who is advocated. Most people who travel to Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia are traveling for business, definitely not for leisure! 😀 Here are a list of good hotels in the area.
The closest Airport in Saudi is Dammam (DMM), which is 60km away from Al Khobar. Sometimes, people who are looking to visit Dammam or Al Khobar for business, will often fly into the Bahrain International Airport (BAH), then cross the Saudi Causeway into Al Khobar. Half way across this causeway, you’ll be required to do customs/immigration from your vehicle. In the event you’re looking to stay in Bahrain, here are some great places to stay.
Just a side note, I did live in Al Khobar Saudi Arabia, so I am particularly familiar with the area.
